Long one of rock’s most unique and iconoclastic frontmen, Mark E. Smith — the only constant member of The Fall — turns 55 today, and to celebrate, we, for the second straight year, offer up this hour-long documentary called “The Fall: The Wonderful and Frightening World of Mark E. Smith” that aired on the BBC back in 2005. If you didn’t see last year’s post or haven’t seen the film, it’s a great overview of Smith and his remarkable career; as John Peel says early on, “With the Fall, you can never be absolutely certain what you’re going to get. Sometimes it may not be what you want, but it’s still… they’re the Fall. It’s all you need.”
