As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, The Church today announced plans to bring its “Future Past Perfect” tour to the United States in February and perform not one, but three albums — 1988’s Starfish, 1992’s Priest=Aura and last year’s Untitled #23 — in their entirety each night.
The 10-date trek opens Feb. 2 in Los Angeles and runs through Feb. 18 in Foxboro, Mass., with a single two-night stand set for Seattle on Feb. 7 and 8 (see full dates below). According to the The Church’s website, each night will begin with a full performance of the band’s most recent album, Untitled #23, before proceeding in reverse chronological order with full readings of Priest=Aura — which was not supported by a U.S. tour when it was released — and the band’s commercial breakthrough, Starfish.
Earlier this fall, the band began reissuing its catalog in the U.S. with expanded single-disc editions of Of Skin and Hearts (1981), The Blurred Crusade (1982), Seance (1983) and Heyday (1986). The next round of reissues will be 2CD sets, with Starfish, Gold Afternoon Fix (1990), Priest=Aura and Sometime Anywhere (1994) — as well as a box set featuring reissues of the Tear It All Away (1981) Singsongs (1982), Remote Luxury (1983) and Persia (1984) EPs — due “in early 2011,” according to Second Motion Records.
The Church also is planning a 30th anniversary concert at the Sydney Opera House on April 10 dubbed “A Psychedelic Symphony.” Backed by the George Ellis Orchestra, the band will perform “a selection of their greatest songs in a unique ‘best of’ event.”

This news made my day…they were initially saying they’d only play 2 albums, more than likely Starfish and Untitled #23. Priest=Aura is a bonus. That’s 34 songs/+2.5 hours of music…throw in some witty inbetween song banter by the band and you’ve got a full night. Not to be missed.
Wow..tickets for the LA show cost almost $55.00 each with fees. I think I’ll have to pass.
