For this week’s installment of “120 Minutes” Rewind, we present this 1989 clip of host Dave Kendall interviewing Exene Cervenka at the CMJ Festival in New York City about her then-new solo debut, Old Wives’ Tales, the single “Leave Heaven Alone” and the status of her band X, which, at the time, was on something of a hiatus.

The Psychedelic Furs continue to expand their summer touring plans, having just announced six more U.S. shows in late July and August, including two at which the band will share the bill with X, and another that also will feature contemporaries The Fixx. Chicago’s Riot Fest this morning unveiled the lineup for its three-day September festival, which will be headlined by Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age and a reunited Jawbreaker. Also on the bill: New Order, Ministry, Dinosaur Jr, X, Bad Brains, Buzzcocks, GBH, Fishbone and Alice Bag.

Los Angeles punk legends X will celebrate their 40th anniversary as a band with an impressive 32-date U.S. tour this spring and summer that will bring the group’s original lineup — Exene Cervenka, John Doe, D.J. Bonebrake and Billy Zoon — to cities coast to coast.

This week’s new releases include the 30th anniversary vinyl reissue of The The’s ‘Soul Mining,’ a second brand-new album from Brian Eno and Karl Hyde, a reissue of X’s ‘More Fun in the New World,’ a collection from Steve Wynn called ‘Sketches in Spain,’ a Blow Monkeys reissue and a Cabaret Voltaire best-of.
