Legendary post-punk act Wire kicks off a new reissue series on Record Store Day in the U.K. with the release of Nine Sevens, a box set collecting nine 7-inches spanning 1977 to 1980 — seven singles, plus one that was never released, and a bonus EP that came with early pressings of 154. For this week’s installment of “120 Minutes” Rewind, we turn to this Downtown Julie Brown-hosted “120 X-Ray” segment on Wire following the band’s reformation and the recording of 1987’s The Ideal Copy” — the debut of the post-punk legends’ second incarnation.

U.K. post-punk warriors Wire stopped by the Seattle studios of KEXP radio in early April during a short West Coast swing in support of their 15th studio album, Silver/Lead, to perform a four-song on-air session and chat with host Stevie Zoom.

Post-punk legends act Wire today announced a 13-date north American tour this September in support of its recently released 15th studio album, Silver/Lead. The long-running Dutch group Clan of Xymox returns this week with ‘Days of Black,’ its first new album in three years, a 12-song collection described by Metropolis Records as “a beautiful blend of goth rock and electronics.” Also, Wire’s ‘Silver/Lead’ gets a U.S. physical release this week.

This week’s releases include new studio albums from U.K. post-punk legends Wire and singer-songwriter Aimee Mann, plus a new 3CD best-of set from Scottish rockers Big Country and a 4CD box set collecting the late-’70s work on Epic Records from punk act The Vibrators.
