Joy Division and the band’s famed art director Peter Saville have teamed up with London fashion retailer Goodhood to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Unknown Pleasures by reissuing the album on ruby red vinyl and in a white sleeve “resembling the original design idea.” Full details here.

Peter Hook will release four new live albums this spring on CD, digital and vinyl, each capturing a performance of a different full album — Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures and Closer, and New Order’s Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies — recorded over the past few years.

Having just warpped his American tour performing New Order’s third and fourth albums — 1985′s Low-Life and 1986′s Brotherhood — Peter Hook has announced he’ll return next spring for a tour of the southern U.S. during which he’ll play Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures and Closer plus a set of New Order favorites.

What appears to be a treasure trove of aging tapes recorded by legendary postpunk producer Martin Hannett — including material by Joy Division, New Order, The Psychedelic Furs and Magazine — have been “rescued” from a garbage bin and are now being put up for sale by Hannett’s former personal assistant.

Having performed all three of Joy Division’s official albums live in recent years, Peter Hook announced today that he will turn his attention to his other former band, New Order, and perform that group’s first two albums — 1981’s ‘Movement and’ 1983’s ‘Power, Corruptions & Lies’ — live at a pair of U.K. concerts in January.

Peter Hook will perform Joy Division’s third and final album, 1981’s ‘Still,’ at two concerts in Manchester this May, playing both the first disc’s collection of rarities and outtakes, and then recreating the band’s final concert as included on the second disc. The concerts are set for May 18, the anniversary of Ian Curtis’ death, and May 19.
