Mike Scott, frontman and core member of The Waterboys, next month will publish ‘Adventures of a Waterboy,’ a 272-page ‘musical memoir’ that promises ‘an eye-opening account of Mike’s life in music’ via ‘blow-by-blow descriptions of his days in teenage garage bands, the rise of The Waterboys’ and beyond.

This week’s new releases include the first two reissues from The Jesus and Mary Chain (‘Psychocandy,’ ‘Darklands’), a new album from The Waterboys (‘An Appointment with Mr. Yeats’), best-ofs from Throwing Muses (‘Anthology’) and 808 State (‘Blueprint’) and a 3CD/1DVD box set from Madness (‘A Guided Tour of Madness’).

This week’s headlines on Slicing Up Eyeballs included news of a new Kate Bush album, tour dates from X and Dinosaur Jr, new music from Simple Minds, INXS and The Waterboys, and a very cool contest for fans of The Smiths.

The Waterboys return next week with their first new album in four years, the 14-track ‘An Appointment with Mr. Yeats,’ which features songs bandleader Mike Scott created from the lyrics of Irish poet W.B. Yeats for the stage show of the same name.

This week’s new releases include Kate Bush’s new ‘Director’s Cut’ and five reissues; four 2CD reissues from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds; Peter Hook’s ‘1102/2011′ EP of Joy Division covers; The Replacements’ ‘Don’t Tell a Soul’ on vinyl; and a 2CD reissue of the Go-Go’s ‘Beauty and the Beat.’
