For this week’s installment of “120 Minutes” Rewind, we present this Dave Kendall-hosted “120 X-Ray” segment on Icelandic export The Sugarcubes from 1989, a 3 1/2-minute clip that finds Bjork, fellow vocalist Einar Orn and drummer Siggy Baldursson discussing their just-released sophomore album Here Today, Tomorrow Next Week!

In October 1988, an MTV-packaged “new music” tour featuring Living Colour, The Godfathers and The Sugarcubes hit Alabama’s Auburn University, where the music-video network filmed the latter band’s 50-minute, 14-song set for a special that aired during the “second 60” of “120 Minutes” on Christmas of that same year.
While it’s not uncommon to hear musicians name-checking Bjork, you don’t see The Sugarcubes bandied about much — which is why it’s nice to see this clip of indie-pop outfit The Drums performing that band’s 1987 single ‘Birthday’ during a recent on-air performance taped for Sirius XM Satellite Radio.
