The folks over at the U.K. arm of Rhino Records recently discovered this little gem: a clever 1992 advertisement for The Smiths’ 14-track Best… compilation that apparently was shown in British movie theaters.

Leave it to Morrissey to attack his own fans: At a gig Monday night in Bradford, England, the former Smiths frontman and his band took the stage for an encore of ‘This Charming Man’ wearing matching black T-shirts emblazoned with an all-caps declaration, ‘FUCK MORRISSEY-SOLO.COM.’

Greeting the crowd with ‘Hello Glasto… fancy seeing me here,’ Morrissey took to the main stage at Glastonbury tonight to perform a 16-song set that mixed songs old and brand-new, with a generous heaping of classics from The Smiths thrown in.

A treasure trove of early ’80s concert footage shot at New Order’s legendary club FAC51 The Hacienda soon will make its way online thanks to a deal by Ikon — Factory Records’ video spinoff — to provide its remaining archive of performances to Peter Hook’s site fac51thehacienda.com.

Twenty-five years ago today, The Smiths released their third — and, arguably, best — album, ‘The Queen is Dead,’ a note-perfect marriage of Johnny Marr’s peerless pop songcraft and Morrissey’s pointed political commentary, lovesick laments and wicked humor.
