The latest installment of indie behemoth Amoeba Music’s web series ‘What’s In My Bag?’ asks Johnny Marr the titular question during his recent visit to the chain’s Hollywood store.

This latest round of links and such includes a story on Johnny Marr’s plans to record two solo albums, a look back at Talk Talk, a podcast featuring an interview with Gang of Four, and news that the Pogues’ U.S. tour will be their last.

Indie imprint American Laundromat Recordings this fall will issue a brand-new tribute album to The Smiths featuring newly recorded covers by the likes of Built to Spill’s Doug Martsch, The Wedding Present and its spin-off Cinerama, and former Throwing Muses member Tanya Donelly.

Janice Whaley is releasing the fruits of her ambitious The Smiths Project — vocal-only covers of all 71 songs The Smiths ever recorded — as a lavish 6CD box set. Fans can pre-order the collection through March 1.

Morrissey in April will release a new greatest-hits collection — the 18-track ‘The Very Best of Morrissey’ — featuring an unreleased, Siouxsie-less version of ‘Interlude,’ and will precede the set with a single backed by two unreleased ‘Viva Hate’ outtakes.

Now here’s something you don’t see every day: A snapshot of Billy Bragg and Morrissey — clad in knee-bearing shorts and some sort of floral or Hawaiian shirt, with his tongue jutting out — at Canada’s Wonderland amusement park in Toronto while on tour with The Smiths in 1985.
