After 37 years at the helm of The Pretenders, iconic frontwoman Chrissie Hynde is going solo, announcing plans to release her first-ever album under her own name, an 11-song collection called Stockholm that’s due out on June 9 and is preceded by the single “Dark Sunglasses.”

This week’s new releases include New Order’s collection of previously unreleased tracks from 2005 (‘Lost Sirens’), the reunion/charity EP from The Replacements (‘Songs for Slim’), two compilations from Talk Talk, an audiophile reissue from The Pretenders and a live DVD from Einstürzende Neubauten.

This week’s installment of The AV Club’s Undercover 2012 series finds mash-up stars The Hood Internet doing a number on The Pretenders’ 1982 single ‘Back on the Chain Gang,’ slowing it down and punching it up with samples of rappers Rick Ross and Gucci Mane.

The AV Club recently launched Undercover 2012 — the third round in its ‘let’s have a band cram into a small, round room and cover a song off a list’ web series — and the latest clip finds Canadian dream-pop outfit Memoryhouse giving The Police’s 1981 hit ‘Everything Little Thing She Does Is Magic’ a makeover.

For his first live dates since a series of trouble-prone 2009 outings, Morrissey will return to the stage this summer with a nine-date U.K. tour leading up to a slot headlining the Hop Farm Music Festival alongside such icons as Lou Reed, Iggy & The Stooges and Patti Smith.
