The Mission have extended their 25th anniversary reunion beyond a single London concert to now include a second newly announced U.K. date plus 10 European concerts in October and November.

It’s Wayne Hussey’s birthday today — he’s 53 — and to honor the co-founder of goth-rock luminaries The Mission, we present this 1990 concert filmed in Dusseldorf during the ‘Carved in Sand’ tour and broadcast on German television.

Frontman Wayne Hussey has tapped goth-rock contemporaries Fields of the Nephilim and Gene Loves Jezebel to open The Mission’s upcoming 25th anniversary concert in London — and recently announced plans to add a second U.K. performance and ‘some mainland European shows’ in October.

Not only is The Mission reuniting for a 25th anniversary concert this fall, but Wayne Hussey and two of the band’s other original members — plus ex-Siouxsie and the Banshees drummer Budgie — are currently in a British studio recording a brand-new album.

This week’s new releases include brand-new albums from R.E.M. (‘Collapse Into Now’), Blancmange (‘Blanc Burn’) and Exene Cervenka (‘The Excitement of Maybe’), plus a new EP from The Primitives, two mid-period reissues from The Mission and a new KMFDM single.

Two mid-period albums by goth-rock icons The Mission — 1995’s Neverland and 1996’s Blue — are set to be reissued in the U.K. next month, expanded to include B-sides, remixes and covers of John Lennon’s “Instant Karma” and “Pictures of Matchstick Men” by Status Quo.
