The generally dour Mark E. Smith, mastermind of The Fall, brightens up a bit — cracks a smile, even — in this new video for ‘England’s Heartbeat,’ an unofficial World Cup single supporting England that’s due out next month.

New Jersey-based radio station WFMU is once again streaming full sets from the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, Spain, today and Saturday, with performance on tap from Wire, Gary Numan, Soft Cell’s Marc Almond and Roddy Frame of Aztec Camera, among others.

‘Your Future Our Clutter,’ the 28th album by Mark E. Smith and The Fall, recently hit stores, and Domino Records has delivered a video — the band’s first in years, shot in artsy, super slo-mo — for the record’s first single, ‘Bury! Pts. 2+4.’

This week’s new releases include ‘Your Future Our Clutter,’ the 28th album from The Fall, plus the 2CD ‘This is Big Audio Dynamite: Legacy Edition,’ a new EP from James, a KMFDM remix disc, a best-of from The Triffids and a Robs Records compilation.

Beggars Archive this morning revealed a preliminary tracklist for its upcoming 4CD Omnibus Edition of The Fall’s 1984 album ‘The Wonderful and Frightening World of the Fall,’ which is due for release later this year alongside an expanded edition of ‘This Nation’s Saving Grace.’

This week’s new releases include the Gorillaz’s ‘Plastic Beach’ — featuring a reunion of The Clash’s Mick Jones and Paul Simonon — plus reissues of Spandau Ballet’s first two albums and a new early-’80s best-of from The Fleshtones.

The irascible Mark E. Smith — who turns 53 today — next month will release his 28th studio album under the banner of The Fall, the ragged, love-’em-or-hate-’em postpunk act that has churned through dozens of members since debuting in 1976.
