The Dream Syndicate’s 1982 debut album The Days of Wine and Roses will receive a 40th anniversary reissue this summer in the form of 4-disc, 54-track collection.

The Dream Syndicate will kick off promotion of their next album with a string of performances at the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas, this March.

As promised, Paisley Underground-era rockers The Dream Syndicate last night reunited onstage in Los Angeles with former bandmate Kendra Smith, who left the group after playing bass and singing on its acclaimed 1982 debut The Days of Wine and Roses. Watch the decades-in-the-making performance here.

Reunited Paisley Underground-era rockers The Dream Syndicate today announced they’ll be joined onstage “for a few songs” at two California shows next week by former bandmate Kendra Smith, who played bass and sang on the band’s 1982 debut The Days of Wine and Roses. She’ll play with the band in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Omnivore Recordings next year will reissue a long-out-of-print 1982 live set by The Dream Syndicate that was recorded during an on-air performance at Los Angeles radio station KPFK-FM a few weeks before Steve Wynn and Co. entered the studio to cut their classic debut album The Days of Wine and Roses.

The Dream Syndicate opens its second run of European reunion concerts tomorrow, but bandleader Steve Wynn already is thinking bigger, raising the possibility of recording new music with his old band with a very specific goal in mind: making the “missing” album to bridge the gap between its first two records.

Steve Wynn today revealed that The Dream Syndicate — which reunited last year for a series of concerts in Spain celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘The Days of Wine and Roses’ — will play what he’s billing as the band’s first U.S. show since 1988 when it performs this summer at Wilco’s Solid Sound festival.
