Nearly 1,000 fans of The Cure contributed video and photos to a project by a Polish fansite to stitch together an enormous amateur multicam of the band’s Oct. 20, 2016, concert in Łódź, Poland — and they’re now offering the nearly 3-hour film as a free download to fellow fanatics. Frankie Rose, a former member of indie-pop groups including Vivian Girls and Dum Dum Girls, has recorded a front-to-back cover of The Cure’s 1980 sophomore album Seventeen Seconds that will be made available next month to members of the Sounds Delicious vinyl subscription service. Luna — Dean Wareham’s reunited post-Galaxie 500 dreampop act — today debuted a Rose McGowan-starring video for its new cover of The Cure’s “Fire in Cairo,” which will appear on its new covers album A Sentimental Education, due out next month. Watch it here.

For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we’ll revisit a rarity we first shared about four years ago: The Cure’s lost relic of The Top era, a 90-minute concert film called “Live in Japan” that  documents the band’s Oct. 17, 1984, performance in Tokyo — and which was released the following year on VHS and Betamax in Japan only.

Luna — Dean Wareham’s reunited post-Galaxie 500 dreampop act — will put out its first new music since 2004 in September with the simultaneous release of a 10-song covers album called A Sentimental Education and a 6-song instrumental EP titled A Place of Greater Safety.

The Cure’s two much-coveted Record Store Day releases — 2001’s Greatest Hits and a standalone release of its limited-edition companion Acoustic Hits, both as 2LP picture discs — will receive a general release later this month on standard vinyl. They’ll be released on June 30.
