The Cult to announce ‘Electric 13’ tour on Monday as some U.S., U.K. dates emerge

The Cult have been teasing fans the last couple days via social media that they plan to announce a new tour called “Electric 13” on Monday — a trek that presumably will find Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy revisiting their 1987 hard-rock turn Electric on stage each night. The tour is poised to come to the U.S. and U.K.

Johnny Marr surprised fans in San Francisco on Saturday night by pulling an old friend on stage: Billy Duffy of The Cult, who joined Marr and his band to rip through “I Fought the Law,” the 1958 classic by The Crickets’ Sonny Curtis popularized first by the Bobby Fuller Four and then The Clash.

The Cult recently enlisted witch house act Salem to remix the track “Elemental Light” off the band’s current album Choice of Weapon, and has just released a Kostas Seremetis-directed video for the new version — which, as you can hear from the beat-driven clip posted above, is pretty much and entirely different song than the original.

Killing Joke plan 2 albums in 2013, plus ‘limited’ number of U.S. concerts next spring

Killing Joke this weekend announced plans to release two albums in 2013 and perform “a very small run of headline shows” to coincide with the first release — expected some time in March or April — including “limited U.S. tour dates,” according to a short note posted on the band’s Facebook page.
