With their new album set to arrive Friday, New Zealand indie-pop legends The Chills today premiere the video for super-catchy lead-off single “Complex” — which you can view below. The album, the band’s first in three years and sixth overall, is due out Sept. 14 via Fire Records, and can be pre-ordered now.

It’s now less than a month before New Zealand indie-pop legends The Chills release their new album Snow Bound, and Martin Phillipps and Co. have premiered the third track off the record: the chunky rocker “Scarred,” which you can stream here. This follows the release of two songs off the record last month.
New Zealand indie-pop legends The Chills — the Martin Phillipps-led group that long has carried the banner for the Dunedin sound — will return in September with a new album titled Snow Bound, and you can already get an earful of two songs off new record. Stream them both right here.
This week’s new releases include a brand-new studio album from Simple Minds, plus a collection of BBC recordings by The Chills, a reissue of A Certain Ratio’s second album, a box set collecting studio albums from Ian Dury with and without the Blockheads, and a new Alphaville best-of.
Peter Gutteridge, a man described as a hero of New Zealand music and a linchpin of that nation’s famed “Dunedin sound” through his roles in The Clean, The Chills, The Great Unwashed, Snapper and more, died earlier today, according to New Zealand music journalist Simon Sweetman and the Flying Nun Records.
The Chills this week christen their new “special ongoing partnership” with Fire Records with their first release on the label: a gorgeous live album called Somewhere Beautiful that was recorded on New Year’s Eve 2011 and is being released this week on CD, digitally and as a deluxe 3LP vinyl pressing.
