For this week’s installment of Vintage Video we dip back to the late 1970s for this delightful report by ABC newsmagazine ’20/20′ on ‘the current transformation of rock ‘n’ roll — it’s called New Wave rock.’

Eagle Rock Entertainment this fall will release a DVD compiling Talking Heads live performances from across the band’s touring career, an 18-track set called ‘Chronology’ that spans the years 1975 to 1983 — and includes the quartet performing “Life During Wartime” during its brief reunion at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

While neither band has formally announced the trek, The Psychedelic Furs — hot off this summer’s 30th anniversary ‘Talk Talk Talk’ dates — have enlisted New Wave contemporaries Tom Tom Club for what appears to be at least a three-week tour of the United States this fall.

Last night, Talking Heads spinoff Tom Tom Club dropped by ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ in advance of tonight’s concert at Irving Plaza in New York, a show being billed as something of a 30th anniversary celebration for the band.

Twenty eight years ago today, the first of what would turn out to be two multi-day US Festivals — envisioned by their organizer, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, as ‘Woodstock West’ — opened in blistering 110-degree heat at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernadino County, Calif.

Crowded House tonight posted video of the band, joined by Neil Finn’s son, Liam Finn, performing Neil Young’s classic ‘Old Man’ in Clearwater, Fla., on Wednesday night as a tribute to longtime Young sideman Ben Keith, who died two days earlier.
