Nick Cave is pulling the plug on Grinderman and The Stone Roses have signed U.S. and U.K. record deals, plus a great photo essay chronicling a recent Peter Murphy gig in Philadelphia, word of a new book about Talk Talk and audio of an interview with Throbbing Gristle’s Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti.
This week’s new releases include new, live and reissued albums, singles and EPs from the likes of Peter Murphy, Bjork, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, the Pixies’ Black Francis, The B-52s, Erasure and Talk Talk.
The revered final album from Talk Talk — 1991′s ‘Laughing Stock,’ which saw the English group fully abandon its synthpop roots for a more a more experimental sound — will receive its first-ever vinyl release in the U.S. this fall alongside a reissue of frontman Mark Hollis’ lone solo album, originally released in 1998.
This latest round of links and such includes a story on Johnny Marr’s plans to record two solo albums, a look back at Talk Talk, a podcast featuring an interview with Gang of Four, and news that the Pogues’ U.S. tour will be their last.
