This week’s new releases include the 30th anniversary vinyl reissue of The The’s ‘Soul Mining,’ a second brand-new album from Brian Eno and Karl Hyde, a reissue of X’s ‘More Fun in the New World,’ a collection from Steve Wynn called ‘Sketches in Spain,’ a Blow Monkeys reissue and a Cabaret Voltaire best-of.

Peter Buck this month hosted his third-annual Todos Santos Music Festival in the southern Baja region of Mexico, a week-long event that featured performances by The Minus 5, Live’s Ed Kowalczyk, Drivin’ N Cryin’, The Dream Syndicate and, of course, Buck himself.

Steve Wynn’s reunited Dream Syndicate — featuring Dennis Duck, Mark Walton and new guitarist Jason Victor — has only played a handful of dates in the U.S. since first coming together in the fall of 2012, so, for many, this film of the band’s full 100-minute set in Cleveland last November is a godsend.

Omnivore Recordings next year will reissue a long-out-of-print 1982 live set by The Dream Syndicate that was recorded during an on-air performance at Los Angeles radio station KPFK-FM a few weeks before Steve Wynn and Co. entered the studio to cut their classic debut album The Days of Wine and Roses.

The Dream Syndicate has been taking this reunion thing a little slowly, only having played one U.S. date since getting back together last fall — an appearance last month at Wilco’s Solid Sound festival in North Adams, Mass. That’s going to change this fall, though, at least for fans in Chicago.

The Dream Syndicate opens its second run of European reunion concerts tomorrow, but bandleader Steve Wynn already is thinking bigger, raising the possibility of recording new music with his old band with a very specific goal in mind: making the “missing” album to bridge the gap between its first two records.

Following last year’s short run of shows in Spain, The Dream Syndicate continues its reunion this year with more European concerts and a festival appearance in Massachusetts that the band is billing as its only U.S. show of 2013. But now talk has turned to whether the band will make a new album.
