This week’s new releases include a new Simple Minds box set that compiles each of the band’s first five albums, plus Dinosaur Jr’s new live DVD ‘In the Hands of Fans,’ a new studio record from Sinead O’Connor, and the second album from Isidore, featuring The Chruch’s Steve Kilbey.

This week’s new CDs include ‘The Palace Guards,’ the solo debut from David Lowery of Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker, plus ‘White Magic,’ the second album from The Church’s Steve Kilbey and Martin Kennedy of electronic group All India Radio.

Back in October, The Church was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame; at the ceremony in Sydney, the band performed its 1988 crossover hit ‘Under the Milky Way’ plus its 1986 single ‘Tantalized.’

Today we mark the 56th birthday of Steve Kilbey — writer, artist, solo musician and, of course, lead singer and bassist for Australian rock act The Church for the past three decades. To commemorate the occasion, we present these vintage clips of The Church playing live on Italian TV in 1988.

This week’s new CD releases include the new solo album from Simple Minds’ Jim Kerr, ‘Lostboy! AKA’; an eight-disc box set from The Church’s Steve Kilbey; and reissues from The Charlatans (‘Some Friendly’) and Modern English (‘Stop Start’).
