Sonic Youth prepping ’85 live album, unseen ’86 concert film, possible ‘Sister’ reissue

The future of Sonic Youth may remain in doubt following last year’s Kim Gordon-Thurston Moore split, but the band is working on a host of archival projects, according to Lee Ranaldo, including a live album recorded in 1985, a previously unseen 1986 concert film and a possible deluxe-edition reissue of 1987’s ‘Sister.’

As promised, Matador Records this week delivered a second track from Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore’s new band Chelsea Light Moving in the form of mid-tempo rocker ‘Groovy & Linda,’ which you can stream and/or download here. The band is expected to release an album on Matador in the future.
