Duran Duran announced today that they are recording a “special new music project” due out later this year featuring their former guitarist Andy Taylor.

Duran Duran will embark on a 27-date North American tour this spring and summer in support of their most recent album The Future Past,.

Having already canceled three concerts this week over Nick Rhodes’ health, Duran Duran tonight scrapped the final three North American dates of its two-year world tour in support of All You Need Is Now — a trek that already suffered significant disruption last year when frontman Simon Le Bon lost his voice and was unable to perform.

After months of cancellations due to Simon Le Bon’s vocal problems, Duran Duran on Tuesday rolled out a 24-date tour that will bring the band back to North America this fall — dates that would have followed the band’s most recent round of scrapped concerts.

After weeks of postponements due to Simon Le Bon’s vocal problems, Duran Duran has begun rescheduling many of its scrubbed concerts, including its entire U.K. arena tour and four key European shows — plus the band says it will mount a four-to-six-week U.S. tour beginning in late September.

As a ‘thank you’ to fans who’ve put up with the band’s recent spate of tour cancellations, Duran Duran over the weekend posted a free download of its nine-song concert for contest winners at RDS Radio in Rome, Italy, on May 12.
