Cocteau Twins co-founder Robin Guthrie teased on social media this past week that he’s been working with former label 4AD on “several projects.”

The 4AD label next month will release remastered editions of the Cocteau Twins’ first and fourth studio albums — 1982’s Garlands and 1986’s Victorialand — on 140-gram black vinyl, completing the effort to put all of the band’s studio albums back in print on vinyl. Details right here.

The Cocteau Twins’ latter-period work — spanning the years 1993 to 1996 — will be compiled this fall on a new four-disc, 53-track box set that will include the dreampop icons’ final two albums plus two discs’ worth of B-sides, EP tracks, live radio sessions and rarities. This week’s new releases include the brand-new record from Cocteau Twins’ Robin Guthrie and Mark Gardener or Ride, plus a new Blancmange LP, a box set combining James’ ‘Laid’ and ‘Wah Wah’ albums, plus new low-cost introductory compilations from Lloyd Cole and The La’s.

Sure, he’s got that Ride reunion to deal with, but that’s not the only thing on Mark Gardener’s plate these days: The frontman for the reunited shoegaze legends announced that his long-in-the-works album with Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie is titled Universal Road and finally will see the light of day this March.

Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie and Ride frontman Mark Gardener have completed their long-in-the-works album together — a collaboration they debuted with their 2012 single “The Places We Go” — and will release the record worldwide this September, Gardener announced this week.
