The Cure tonight performed what’s been billed as its final show of 2013, a headlining performance at New Orleans Voodoo Music Experience that saw Robert Smith and Co. drop yet another shocker on fans: the first-ever live performance of “Burn,” the band’s contribution to the soundtrack to 1994’s “The Crow.”

The Cure returned to Mexico last night for the second time this year, and while the band’s set didn’t quite match the epic length of its show on Robert Smith’s birthday in April, it did feature more surprises, including a heavy dose of The Top and the live debut of Head on the Door-era B-side “Stop Dead.”

The Cure continues to sporadically drop new fall tour dates, with the latest being an arena concert booked for the University of Texas at El Paso on Oct. 10 during the week between Robert Smith and Co.’s two headlining appearances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we present one of the weirder things you’ll see today: Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Alice In Wonderland”-inspired “Play at Home” special that aired on the U.K.’s Channel 4 in 1983, during the period Robert Smith was in the band.

The Cure’s newfound predilection for headlining North American festivals continues as New Orelans’ Voodoo Music + Arts Experience today announced that Robert Smith and Co. will join Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails as headliners of the Nov. 1-3 event.

The Cure wrapped up its short “Great Circle Tour” with a headlining performance at the Lollapalzooza festival in Chicago on Sunday night, delivering a 2-hour, 26-song set — and for Robert Smith and Co., that’s a pretty gig — heavy on the band’s more poppy material. Check out the full webcast here.

The Cure will return to Mexico — site of the band’s epic 4-hour, 50-song performance in an earthquake-rattled stadium on Robert Smith’s birthday this past April — for an arena concert in Monterrey on Oct. 8, the first date to emerge between the band’s headlining slots at the two-weekend Austin City Limits Music Festival.
