This week’s new releases include ‘Please Please Please: A Tribute to The Smiths,’ The Lucy Show’s rarities comp ‘Remembrances,’ a DVD and Blu-ray reissue of X’s ‘The Unheard Music,’ a 5LP Gary Numan vinyl box set and a new 2CD best-of from The Lemonheads.
There’s still a couple weeks before the new 20-track ‘Please, Please, Please: A Tribute to the Smiths’ drops, but American Laundromat Records is offering a sneak peak via streaming versions of three of the Smiths covers that will appear on the disc: Telekinesis’ ‘Sheila Take a Bow,’ Kitten’s ‘Panic’ and Sara Lov’s ‘Well I Wonder.’
American Laundromat Records has enlisted The Wedding Present, Built to Spill’s Doug Martsch, Throwing Muses co-founder Tanya Donelly, Telekinesis and Stars to contribute covers of more than 20 classic songs by The Smiths for a new tribute album to be released this December.
Indie imprint American Laundromat Recordings this fall will issue a brand-new tribute album to The Smiths featuring newly recorded covers by the likes of Built to Spill’s Doug Martsch, The Wedding Present and its spin-off Cinerama, and former Throwing Muses member Tanya Donelly.
