Peter Murphy — still unable to get a visa to come to the U.S. from Turkey — today announced he’s rescheduling his long-planned San Francisco residency for the third time, moving the concerts, which had been scheduled to start later this month, to March 2019. Beggars Arkive this month resurrects its 5 Albums box set series with a new Peter Murphy title that collects his first five solo albums — 1986’s Should the World Fail to Fall Apart, 1988’s Love Hysteria, 1989’s Deep, 1992’s Holy Smoke and 1995’s Cascade — along with bonus tracks. With their former bandmates off performing together as Poptone, the other half of Bauhaus — Peter Murphy and David J — reunited on stage today at a festival in Mexico to perform a set of Bauhaus classics ahead of their rescheduled run of shows in San Francisco this summer. See video footage here.
After repeated reschedulings and scheduling gymnastics, Peter Murphy — still unable to get a visa to come to the U.S. from Turkey — has pulled the plug on this month’s 15-night San Francisco residency, pushing all of the dates to June and July. Still waiting in Turkey for his U.S. visa to be approved, Peter Murphy has now rescheduled four more concerts of his planned 15-night residency in San Francisco, doubling up shows on three nights of the run to cram 12 concerts into 15 nights at The Chapel venue. The opening of Peter Murphy’s San Francisco residency has been pushed back yet again, with tonight’s concert bumped to later in the run as the singer remains stuck in Istanbul as his visa application remains held up in what the venue is calling a rare “random administrative processing” procedure.
