Paul Weller’s already been announced as performing at two of the three Cure-headlined Riot Fests this September — Toronto and Chicago, but not Denver — and now the modfather has announced four dates in the Midwestern U.S. to fill the gap between those two festival appearances.

The Cure’s penchant for topping festival bills continues as Robert Smith and Co. were announced this evening as the headliners of all three Riot Fests — set for Toronto, Chicago and Denver this September — joining the band’s appearance at Bottle Rock in Napa Valley, Calif., this month.

Paul Weller this June will follow up 1998’s Modern Classics compilation with a new companion best-of — cleverly titled More Modern Classics — that will pick up where the previous set left off, collecting 20 favorites by the former Jam leader recorded over the past 15 years, including a brand-new single.

Last month, former Jam frontman Paul Weller participated in Save the Children’s Christmas Tree Sessions benefit, performing five songs — including a brand-new one called “Gravity” — while backed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra, a 20-minute set that is now available to watch.

For this week’s “120 Minutes” Rewind, we go back almost exactly 30 years with this “120 X-Ray” segment on The Style Council, which aired Aug. 7, 1988. As you can see in this clip presented below, the Kevin Seal-hosted segment features Paul Weller and Mick Talbott discussing their then-new album.

This week’s new releases include a limited-edition ‘Sonik Kick’ 7-inch singles box set from Paul Weller, plus the U.S. releases of recent albums by Alison Moyet (‘the minutes’) and British Electric Foundation (‘Dark’), plus an expanded reissue of Johnny Thunders’ 1983 album ‘Hurt Me.’

This week’s new releases include a brand-new two-track single from Paul Weller (“Flame-Out! b/w “The Olde Original”), the first album since 1981 from UK Decay, a remix collection from Gary Numan and live albums both new and old from Peter Hook & The Light and The Monochrome Set.
