Clan of Xymox covers Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, Siouxsie on ‘Kindred Spirits’

Long-running darkwave favorites Clan of Xymox — still centered around founding member Ronny Moorings — this fall will pay tribute to some of its own favorite bands with a collection called ‘Kindred Spirits’ that will feature covers of tracks by The Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees and both Joy Division and New Order.

The series launched this summer, and, so far, titles are available on Joy Division/New Order, The Smiths, Cocteau Twins and David Bowie. Next month sees publication of a title on Kate Bush, with books due in spring and summer 2013 on Abba, My Bloody Valentine, Kraftwerk, PIxies, R.E.M. and Roxy Music.

Amid rumors that the stage-shy singer somehow will participate in Sunday’s London Olympics closing ceremony, Kate Bush apparently is set to release a new remix of her best-known hit, ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God).’ A listing for a 2012 remix of the song was up on Amazon.co.uk, although it’s now been removed.

The reactivated New Order is expanding its brief North American tour this October, announcing today plans for a second New York City date — due to “unprecedented ticket demand” — as well as an appearance the Corona Capital 2012 festival in Mexico City alongside The Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand and Suede.
