Out March 23, the soundtrack to ‘Hot Tube Time Machine’ features such ’80s film staples as Echo & The Bunnymen’s ‘Bring On the Dancing Horses’ and New Order’s ‘Bizarre Love Triangle,’ plus tracks by The Replacements (‘I Will Dare’), INXS (‘What You Need’) and The English Beat (‘Save it For Later’).

Bad Lieutenant, the new band from New Order’s Bernard Sumner, will make its belated U.S. debut this April with an appearance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and club dates in New York, Chicago and San Francisco, the group announced Monday.

Peter Hook last night christened his new Manchester club FAC251 — housed in the former headquarters of Factory Records — with members of The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays helping perform a career-spanning set that included the live debuts of an unfinished Joy Division song and a New Order outtake.

While U.S. fans await word of Bad Lieutenant’s stateside debut — following last fall’s aborted showcase concerts in New York and Chicago — Bernard Sumner’s New Order spinoff on Wednesday announced five new live dates in the U.K. next month.

Revered as an iconic singles band, New Order delivered, with its fifth album “Technique,” what now holds up — alongside 1985’s “Low-Life” — as its strongest front-to-back effort. The album was released on this date in 1989.

Florida-based record label 24 Hour Service Station next month will release a two-disc tribute to New Order, proceeds from which will benefit the Salford Foundation Trust’s Tony Wilson Awards, established in memory of the late Factory Records co-founder and Manchester musical icon.
