Morrissey’s Canadian tour that was to have started Sunday night in Vancouver is on the rocks after at least the first two concerts — if not most of the trek — have been rescheduled for October “due to a medical emergency stemming from an accident incurred while traveling in Europe.” Full details here.

Morrissey will follow up his May residency on Broadway with a 14-date U.S. tour this September and October in support of his forthcoming covers album California Son, a trek that will be supported by modern-day post-punk act Interpol. Check out those full dates and hear Moz’s new single right here.

Morrissey today announced he’ll mount a seven-night residency on New York City’s famed Broadway this May, with his handlers promising fans will get a “rare opportunity to see the star branch out into new territory and take the stage like never before.” Full details right here.

Morrissey this week announced he’ll release a new album of cover songs in May, a collection called California Son that will include songs by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Phil Ochs, Jobraith and more — with members of Green Day, Grizzly Bear and Young the Giant guesting. Check out the full tracklist.

Morrissey today announced an eight-date tour of Canada this April, abandoning without explanation his 15-year boycott of the nation until its annual seal hunt is banned. That hasn’t happened, but Moz nevertheless will return, and part of the tour’s proceeds will go toward animal welfare charities across Canada. Dates here.

In August 1982, Johnny Marr and Steven Patrick Morrissey went into Manchester’s Decibelle Studios to record the first two songs they’d written together, “The Hand that Rocks the Cradle” and “Suffer Little Children,” both of which would appear on The Smiths’ debut two years later.
