Cathal Coughlan, the Irish singer-songwriter who co-founded Microdisney and went on to lead The Fatima Mansions, returns today with his first new music in a decade, the single “Song of Co-Aklan,” which also is the title track of his forthcoming solo album. Hear the new song here.
The original lineup of Microdisney will reunite next June after 30 years apart for a one-off performance of their 1985 album The Clock Comes Down the Stairs, considered to be among the greatest Irish albums ever made, at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. The band will play on June 2.
This week’s new releases include reissues from Microdisney (‘Love Your Enemies,’ ‘The Clock Comes Down The Stairs’), New Model Army (a repackaged 2003 live set) and A Certain Ratio (I’d Like To See You Again’), plus new best-ofs from Visage and The Proclaimers.
