Echo & The Bunnymen will release their first new album in four years next May, a collection called The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon that will feature “some of their greatest songs” re-recorded “with strings and things attached” along with a couple brand-new songs. The band also announced U.K. dates next year.

Echo & The Bunnymen announced this week that the band has signed to BMG, marking the group’s return to a major label for the first time since the 1990s. On top of that, the band said, in a Facebook post, that it’s “looking forward to sharing future releases very soon.”

Violent Femmes and Echo & The Bunnymen will team up this summer for a North American co-headlining tour that will see the two bands play 16 shows in July and August, beginning in Philadelphia and wrapping up in Vancouver, B.C. The tour also plays Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Portland and more

Echo & The Bunnymen will return to the U.S. this summer, with the band this week announcing what it termed a “tour of America” that consists of four shows in California this August. It is not clear, via the band’s announcement on Facebook or elsewhere, whether the Bunnymen plan to add more dates to the trek.

Echo & The Bunnymen this week wrapped up their U.S. tour in support of brand-new album Meteorites, and capped the trek with a return appearance on “Late Night with David Letterman” last night that saw the band performing that album’s “Holy Moses” for a national TV audience.

Echo & The Bunnymen currently are about midway through their North American tour in support of their latest album Meteorites, and tonight’s show in Seattle offers a special treat: It’s being broadcast live across the Internet as part of Yahoo!
