London’s Meltdown festival today revealed the first round of acts selected by The Cure’s Robert Smith for this year’s series of concerts, a roster that includes My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, The Psychedelic Furs, Kristin Hersh of Throwing Muses, and The Church. Full details right here.

Siouxsie returned to the concert stage for the first time in five years tonight in London, performing the first of two nights at the Yoko Ono-curated Meltdown festival with a 20-song set that included a full reading of 1980’s Kaleidoscope plus Banshees favorites like “Cities in Dust” and “Israel” as well as tracks off MantaRay.

Due to “incredible demand,” former Banshees frontman Siouxsie has added a second performance at the Yoko Ono-curated Meltdown festival at London’s Southbank Centre, an event that also will feature sets by Patti Smith, Iggy & The Stooges, Boy George, and both Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore.

Over the past week, former Cocteau Twins frontwoman Elizabeth Fraser played her first-ever solo concerts — and first full performances of any kind in 14 years — with a trio of shows in the U.K. that delivered, as promised, a mix of Cocteaus material with new arrangements and brand-new solo material from an anticipated album.
