For a band with just one album and a handful of EPs and singles, Bauhaus spinoff Tones on Tail already has been the subject of more than its share of compilations, and now comes another: ‘Weird Pop,’ a double-vinyl best-of that features at least one previously unreleased cut and several other rarities.

It’s Bauhaus/Love and Rockets bassist David J’s birthday today, and it seems a good as time as any to dig up the video from that one-off classic, The Bubblemen. So here they are, Love and Rockets dressed as giant bees. Dig it.

Duncan Sheik will reinterpret a dozen ’80s alternative and synthpop classics this June with the release of ‘Covers 80s,’ which will include new takes on old favorites by The Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order, Love and Rockets, The Smiths and more.

This week’s new releases include ‘Red Barked Tree,’ the new album from Wire; vinyl reissues of best-of sets from the Pixies, Love and Rockets and The Cult; the post-Husker Du debut from Grant Hart’s Nova Mob; and the CD edition of ‘Hand in Glove: The Smiths Tribute’

Highlights of tonight’s “Dark Wave” on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave include not one but two tracks by the pre-Eurythmics group The Tourists (“Blind Among the Flowers,” “Circular Fever”), as well as another double shot of lesser-played Love and Rockets (”Holiday on the Moon,” “Haunted When the Minutes Drag”).
