Over the past few days, Lloyd Cole has treated fans to a couple gems from the vault, posting a pair of post-Commotions U.K. radio sessions recorded in 1990, including a four-song BBC studio set in which he’s backed by a full band that included soon-to-be-star Matthew Sweet and ex-Voidoids guitarist Robert Quine.

This week’s new releases include the mammoth 20th anniversary reissue of U2’s landmark ‘Achtung Baby’ (including a $470 ‘Uber Deluxe’ edition with six CDs, four DVDs, two LPs and five 7-inches), plus ‘Lulu,’ the joint album from Lou Reed and Metallica, and a new INXS best-of.

The head-scratching combo of Lou Reed and Metallica, who’ll release their album ‘Lulu’ this fall, today released the first full track from that collaboration: ‘The View.’

This week’s new releases include Ramones reissues on 180-gram audiophile vinyl, plus a 2CD reissue of Peter Murphy’s debut ‘Should the World Fail to Fall Apart,’ a brand-new They Might Be Giants album called ‘Join Us’ and a DVD of Lou Reed’s 2009 appearance at Lollapalooza.

Greeting the crowd with ‘Hello Glasto… fancy seeing me here,’ Morrissey took to the main stage at Glastonbury tonight to perform a 16-song set that mixed songs old and brand-new, with a generous heaping of classics from The Smiths thrown in.
