Bob Mould returns to the road with a trio of special appearances in August and September followed by a 16-date solo-electric tour.

Bob Mould will return to the road later this year for a 23-date tour that’ll find him performing the first run of shows with his eponymous trio with the remainder being solo-electric performances, all under the banner of “Distortion and Blue Hearts!” Full details, including tour dates, right here.

The John Darnielle-led Mountain Goats earlier this year released a concept album called Goths that was preceded by the first single “Andrew Eldritch is Moving Back to Leeds,” a notably un-gothlike song about the lead singer of The Sisters of Mercy. This week, they covered the Sisters’ 1987 classic “Lucretia My Reflection”

Bob Mould swung by “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday to promote his new album Beauty & Ruin, tearing through a pair of the record’s tracks — “The War” on air, and “Hey Mr. Grey” as a web exclusive — with Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins filling in for Mould’s regular stickman, Jon Wurster.

Bob Mould this week debuted a new music video via “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” for “Star Machine,” off last year’s ‘Silver Age’ album. The clip, which you can see above, is a spoof on take-your-kid-to-work events, with things going decidedly wrong with drummer Jon Wurster shows up.

Bob Mould will release a new album called ‘Silver Age’ that Merge Records likens to the ‘punishingly loud, melodically sparkling pop/rock vein of the Sugar catlalog’ — a fitting comparison, since Mould will tour the album in the U.S. this fall by playing that band’s ‘Copper Blue’ front-to-back.

Demon Music Group this summer will reissue two of Bob Mould’s ’90s solo albums with a live disc, Mould will perform Sugar’s ‘Copper Blue’ at Milwaukee’s Summerfest, and he’ll headline a benefit concert in North Carolina this week to help defeat a measure that would prohibit recognition of same-sex marriages.
