Bassist Eric Avery, who has now twice quit Jane’s Addiction, has decided to open up for the first time about his experience on last year’s reunion tour by submitting to a series of video interviews conducted by long-running fan site Xiola.org.

The second episode of DirecTV’s new performance and discussion show ‘Guitar Center Sessions’ — capturing the short-lived Jane’s Addiction lineup with Duff McKagan — premieres next weekend, and the series has posted this video of the band doing an unplugged ‘Jane Says’ as a preview.

In a cryptic tweet late Sunday night, Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell hinted that ex-Guns N’ Roses member Duff McKagan — who joined the alt-rockers earlier this year to replace on-again, off-again bassist Eric Avery — may have parted ways with the volatile band.

Twenty years ago tonight, Robert Smith and the rest of The Cure — aided by a pair of American DJs and shadowed by MTV and the music press — set up a pirate radio station at the headquarters of Fiction Records with plans to illicitly premiere their soon-to-released remix album ‘Mixed Up’ over the London airwaves.

This week’s new releases include ‘Live Voodoo,’ a concert DVD/Blu-ray from Jane’s Addiction; ‘Collection,’ a new 16-track compilation from The Stone Roses; a 2CD reissue of ‘Love: And a Million Other Things,’ the only solo album by Propaganda’s Claudia Brücken; and ‘Neon Mirage,’ a new CD from Wall of Voodoo’s Stan Ridgway.

DirecTV next week launches a new performance-and-discussion show called ‘Guitar Center Sessions’ that will feature Peter Gabriel in its debut episode; here’s a clip taken from that episode featuring Gabriel, sitting alone at a piano, performing ‘Here Comes the Flood.’

Bassist Eric Avery’s final U.S. concert with Jane’s Addiction will be preserved on ‘Live Voodoo,’ a new DVD and Blu-ray release arriving this summer that captures the briefly reunited band’s 13-song set at New Orleans’ Voodoo Experience music festival last Halloween.
