For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we offer up what was, at the time, the final performance by Jane’s Addiction, a concert on Sept. 26, 1991, in Honolulu that saw frontman Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins strip completely naked for several songs at the end of the main set. Trent Reznor’s resurrected Nine Inch Nails tonight announced that it will release a brand-new album titled Hesitation Marks on Sept. 3 — nearly four years to the day after Reznor “retired” the live incarnation of that band with an epic, guest-filled concert at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre.
Four years since retiring the live incarnation of Nine Inch Nails, frontman Trent Reznor this morning announced he is resurrecting the band with a new lineup that includes King Crimson guitar whiz Adrian Belew and former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, and will mount a U.S. arena tour this fall and dates worldwide in 2014.
Bassist Eric Avery, who has now twice quit Jane’s Addiction, has decided to open up for the first time about his experience on last year’s reunion tour by submitting to a series of video interviews conducted by long-running fan site Xiola.org.
In a cryptic tweet late Sunday night, Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell hinted that ex-Guns N’ Roses member Duff McKagan — who joined the alt-rockers earlier this year to replace on-again, off-again bassist Eric Avery — may have parted ways with the volatile band.
This week’s new releases include ‘Live Voodoo,’ a concert DVD/Blu-ray from Jane’s Addiction; ‘Collection,’ a new 16-track compilation from The Stone Roses; a 2CD reissue of ‘Love: And a Million Other Things,’ the only solo album by Propaganda’s Claudia Brücken; and ‘Neon Mirage,’ a new CD from Wall of Voodoo’s Stan Ridgway.
