Elvis Costello is hitting the road this spring and summer performing with his band The Imposters and sharing the stage with Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets.

Elvis Costello will head out on tour this summer in support of his brand new album The Boy Named If, a 15-date run that will find him backed by his crack band The Imposters.

Elvis Costello will deliver his 31st album this fall, a 14-song collection called Hey Clockface that was recorded in Helskini, Paris and New York with multiple musical combos featuring players that include longtime sideman Steve Nieve, guitarist Bill Frisell and Wilco’s Nels Cline. Elvis Costello & The Imposters will team up with New Wave-era contemporaries Blondie for a 13-date co-headlining tour this summer that opens July 20 in Bethel, N.Y., and focuses largely on the east and west coasts, wrapping up Aug. 10 in Seattle. See the full tour itinerary right here.

Less than a month after being forced to cut a tour short to recover from cancer treatment, Elvis Costello has announced his next studio album with his long-running combo The Imposters (ie, most of The Attractions) and debuted two of the songs that will appear on that record. Elvis Costello today revealed he underwent surgery six weeks ago for a “very aggressive cancerous malignancy,” and while the procedure went well, he’s canceling the remainder of his European tour — beginning with tonight’s show in Manchester — as he continues to recover. Elvis Costello will release a 7-inch single on Record Store Day featuring a cover of Squeeze’s “Someone Else’s Heart” — off 1981’s East Side Story, which he co-produced — that was recorded in 2011 with members and associates of hip-hop collective The Roots. Full details right here.

For the past few days, Elvis Costello’s Twitter account has been teasing some sort of mystery release that’s due out on the Fourth of July, initially available in a now-sold-out 10-inch 45 rpm single, but which also will be available digitally starting tomorrow. Not much else is yet known about the release.

The Replacements’ reunion train continues to roll on, and now will hit the Pacific Northwest late this summer as Seattle’s Bumbershoot this week announced its 2014 lineup, which will feature the ‘Mats, Elvis Costello, Mission of Burma, The Afghan Whigs, Jonathan Richman, The Dream Syndicate and more.

Elvis Costello and The Roots have been busy this week promoting their just-released new album Wise Up Ghost, performing in Brooklyn Monday night — where they covered The Specials’ classic “Ghost Town” — and appearing on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” aka ?uestlove and Co.’s day job, on Monday night.

This week’s new releases include brand-new studio albums from The Mission, Elvis Costello and The Roots, Sebadoh and Berlin, plus a live DVD/Blu-ray release from Peter Gabriel, a 1992 live album from The Wedding Present and an audiophile vinyl pressing of The Sisters of Mercy’s ‘Floodland.’
