The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020 will include pioneering synthpop outfit turned stadium rockers Depeche Mode alongside Nine Inch Nails, Whitney Houston, The Notorious B.I.G., T. Rex and The Doobie Brothers, the organization announced this morning. Full details right here.

British musician/producer Rob Marshall has tapped Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan to sing “Shock Collar,” a shimmering guitar rocker that appears on the forthcoming self-titled debut album from Marshall’s guest-laden project Humanist. Check out the track right here.

Here at Slicing Up Eyeballs HQ, we’ve been fans of Chris Molanphy’s deeply nerdy chart-history podcast “Hit Parade” since its debut in 2017. But the latest episode — the “Lost and Lonely Edition,” which charts the slow rise to U.S. hit-making status by The Cure, Depeche Mode and New Order — was practically made for us.

epeche Mode next month will release a massive, 18-disc CD box set simply called MODE that will collect all 14 of the band’s studio albums and include four more discs of B-sides, remixes and rarities, a set billed as “a comprehensive collection of the band’s work to date.” Full details and tracklist here.
