Peter Murphy — still unable to get a visa to come to the U.S. from Turkey — today announced he’s rescheduling his long-planned San Francisco residency for the third time, moving the concerts, which had been scheduled to start later this month, to March 2019. With their former bandmates off performing together as Poptone, the other half of Bauhaus — Peter Murphy and David J — reunited on stage today at a festival in Mexico to perform a set of Bauhaus classics ahead of their rescheduled run of shows in San Francisco this summer. See video footage here.
Former Bauhaus and Love and Rockets bassist David J today shared a sparse — and starkly political — new song that he says he wrote this morning called “Thoughts and Prayers” in response to yesterday’s massacre of 17 students and teachers at a school in Parkland, Fla., and the litany of gun violence in this country.

The three-day U.S. government shutdown is apparently holding up Peter Murphy’s 16-night San Francisco residency, as a delay in processing his visa has forced the rescheduling of the first two shows, during which he is to perform his debut solo album Should the World Fail to Fall Apart.
First announced last year, Bauhaus drummer Kevin Haskins’ visual history of the pioneering goth-rock act — a 315-page coffee table book stuffed with recollections and flyers, ticket stubs, personal photographs and more — will be published in early 2018 by Cleopatra Records.
