The Cult recently enlisted witch house act Salem to remix the track “Elemental Light” off the band’s current album Choice of Weapon, and has just released a Kostas Seremetis-directed video for the new version — which, as you can hear from the beat-driven clip posted above, is pretty much and entirely different song than the original.

With a downsized U.K. tour saddled with apparently poor ticket sales and the loss of Killing Joke as an opening act set to kick off next week, The Cult has just issued a new music video for “Honey From a Knife,” the opening track and second official single from the band’s current album, ‘Choice of Weapon.’

This week’s new releases include new studio albums from Echo & The Bunnymen’s Ian McCulloch and The Cult, plus Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan’s album with Soulsavers, a posthumous Joey Ramone record and the U.S. release of the Hoodoo Gurus’ new best-of.

With their new album, ‘Choice of Weapon,’ out Tuesday and a North American tour slated to open Friday in San Diego, The Cult stopped by ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ last night to perform one of the show’s outdoor concerts. ith the release of ‘Choice of Weapon’ — The Cult’s first new album in five years — now just a month away, the band this week released a music video for the record’s first single, “For the Animals.” The clip, which you can check out above, only features the band members in short cameos.

Three days after releasing ‘Choice of Weapon’ — their first album in five years — next month, The Cult will embark on a 20-date North American tour, with punk band Against Me! and hard rockers The Icarus Line supporting most dates of what frontman Ian Astbury is promising will be ‘a very intense, high-energy tour.’

The release of The Cult’s first new album in five years is still two months away, but the band this week gave fans a second taste of the record in the guise of ‘For the Animals,’ the first official single from the 10-track ‘Choice of Weapon.’ You can stream the full track here.

With their first new album in five years, ‘Choice of Weapon,’ coming out in May, The Cult this morning announced a five-date arena tour of the U.K. this September that’ll see the rockers enlisting a pair of freshly reunited contemporaries — The Mission and Killing Joke — to fill out the bill.

The Cult roars back into action this May with a brand-new, 10-track album called ‘Choice of Weapon,’ co-produced by ‘Sonic Temple’ veteran Bob Rock and preceded by the rocker ‘Lucifer’ — which is available here as a free MP3 download. It’s the group’s ninth album overall and first in five years.
