While New Order’s set at Lollapalooza in Chicago was not part of the festival’s webcast last night, those watching the livestream did catch a glimpse of Bernard Sumner when he joined The Killers onstage — as he’s been known to do in the past — to help the band perform its souped-up cover of Joy Division’s “Shadowplay.”

With New Order about halfway through a short North American tour, frontman Bernard Sumner today announced on the band’s website that he has suffered a fractured leg, and while he says he is in pain on stage and “physically unable to give it my all,” the group is not canceling the remainder of its tour.

New Order is in the midst of its second short run of U.S. dates this year, and, just as Bernard Sumner did this past spring when they stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the band using the opportunity this time to once again perform on network television. This time the group dropped in on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”

After missed opportunities at a pair of U.S. shows booked around Coachella this past April, it finally happened: Bernard Sumner joined Johnny Marr on stage in England tonight for a one-song Electronic reunion as the duo performed their 1989 single “Getting Away With It” during the ex-Smiths guitarist’s slot opening for New Order.

With Peter Hook already have written one book on Joy Division and planning a follow-up on New Order, Bernard Sumner now will get his say, too, the announcement that he’ll publish an autobiography in fall 2014 that will offer his “personal perspective both on my own life story and the many bands I’ve been in.”

With a week to kill in Los Angeles between appearances at the Coachella festival, New Order popped up on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last night to perform its classic single “Bizarre Love Triangle” on air plus treated fans to a bonus web-only version of “I’ll Stay With You,” the opening track off its just-released ‘Lost Sirens.’
