The Throwing Muses’ just-released 10th album Sun Racket is an audio-visual affair, as the record is accompanied by a full visual album by experimental filmmaker C.K. Sumner, who, according to Fire Records, mixed photography and 4K digital to create visual pieces for each of record’s 10 songs. You can watch it here.
Now less than a month from the release of their 10th album Sun Racket, the Throwing Muses today debut another new song off the album, “Frosing,” accompanied by a stark, black-and-white, snow-speckled music video by director C.K. Sumner. You can watch the whole clip right here.
With the release of their 10th album Sun Racket looming closer, the Throwing Muses today debut an illustrated, cut-and-pasted music video for “Dark Blue,” the churning first single off the college-rock veterans’ first record in seven years. Watch the video, directed by John-Mark Lapham, right here.

Fire Records is delaying the release of the first new Throwing Muses album in seven years “given the situation in our industry” brought on by the coronavirus. The 10-song Sun Racket, the band’s 10th record overall, had been due out May 22 but now is scheduled to be released Sept. 4.
As we reported earlier this month, the Throwing Muses will release Sun Racket — their 10th studio album, and first in seven years — on the Fire Records label this May. Now you can get your first taste of Kristin Hersh and Co.’s new music in the form of lead-off single and album opener “Dark Blue,” a gnarled rocker that you can stream here.
As promised, the Throwing Muses will support the release of the 4AD band’s forthcoming best-of set ‘Anthology’ — which initially will be released in a deluxe package with a second disc of B-sides and rare cuts — with live dates, including a just-announced 15-date tour of Europe and the United Kingdom this fall.
