Daniel Ash — he of ’80s darkwave trifecta Bauhaus, Tones on Tail and Love and Rockets — turns 54 today, and to mark the occasion, we present this little nugget: It’s a promo for MTV’s ‘120 Minutes’ featuring a cue-card reading Ash and his Love and Rockets bandmates David J and Kevin Haskins that aired sometime around 1986.

The briefly reunited Dalis Car — Peter Murphy and late Japan bassist Mick Karn — today released its first new music in 27 years in the form of a newly reworked version of the instrumental ‘Artemis’ with new vocals and lyrics by the former Bauhaus singer.

New York rockers Bones Howell claim to draw on punk and goth influences, and they certainly aren’t afraid to show off that inspiration on a new 7-inch that arrives this week and features both a cover of Bauhaus’ ‘Hair of the Dog’ and a remix of their own song ‘Nephritis’ by none other than Daniel Ash, Bauhaus’ guitarist.

Today we commemorate the birthday of Peter Murphy — he’s 54 — by turning the clock back to the Bauhaus era and presenting “Shadow of Light,” a 40-minute film released on VHS in 1984 that includes live performances mixed in with music videos.

It’s a great year for Peter Murphy fans, with new album ‘Ninth’ in stores and a Dalis Car sequel on the horizon — and now comes an expanded 25th anniversary reissue of the former Bauhaus leader’s solo debut ‘Should the World Fail to Fall Apart,’ complete with an unreleased mix of the title track.

The new video for ‘I Spit Roses’ by director Justin Coloma finds Peter Murphy — who’s done time as and-screen vampire — made up like some sort of pirate as he makes his way through the nautically themed story.

For a band with just one album and a handful of EPs and singles, Bauhaus spinoff Tones on Tail already has been the subject of more than its share of compilations, and now comes another: ‘Weird Pop,’ a double-vinyl best-of that features at least one previously unreleased cut and several other rarities.
