For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we present an early U.S. performance by The Sisters of Mercy in the form of this full 50-minute set filmed at Chicago’s Exit Club on April 15, 1984. The show comes nearly a year before the release of the Sisters’ debut album First and Last and Always.

The Sisters of Mercy’s 30th anniversary tour enters its second year with the band’s first-ever trip to New Zealand and Australia — where the goth-rockers will play the Soundwave Festival, making up for their slot on last year’s failed Soundwave Revolution spinoff — as well as a short run of dates in South America and Mexico.

The Sisters of Mercy’s 30th anniversary tour will end the year where it began 2011 — in Europe — with 15 more dates planned for November and December, although the band’s first-ever trip to Australia and New Zealand was scuttled after this week’s Soundwave Revolution touring festival fell apart.

Just two new releases on the radar this week: The Sisters of Mercy’s ‘First and Last and Always’ is reissued by Mobile Fidelity on audiophile vinyl, and The Icicle Works’ ‘Blind’ is reissued in a 3CD set by Cherry Red.

Andrew Eldritch will continue The Sisters of Mercy’s 30th anniversary tour with newly announced festival dates this summer and a pair of November concerts in Dublin and London — plus the goth-rock legends’ first-ever performance in Japan.

The enigmatic Andrew Eldritch will take Doktor Avalanche and the rest of the current incarnation of The Sisters of Mercy back out on the road early next year for what’s being billed as a 30th anniversary tour, with dates announced so far in the U.K. and Europe in February and March.

Goth-rock survivors The Sisters of Mercy have announced a short run of shows this August, including the band’s only U.K. performance of 2010 and festival dates in Belgium, Germany and Romania.
