Depeche Mode this summer will inaugurate a new series of box sets collecting audiophile-quality vinyl 12-inches of the singles released off of each of the group’s records, beginning with multi-disc sets for 1981 debut Speak & Spell and its 1982 follow-up, A Broken Frame. For their forthcoming fifth album, contemporary Greek synthpop duo Marsheaux — Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou — have decided to remake a classic, recording a song-by-song cover of Depeche Mode’s 1982 sophomore record A Broken Frame.

This week’s new releases include a second batch of 180-gram audiophile vinyl Depeche Mode reissues, plus an 11-disc box set from The Stranglers, an expanded reissue of Aztec Camera’s debut ‘High Land, Hard Rain,’ and heavyweight vinyl reissues of all six albums by The Jam.

Depeche Mode announced this weekend that it will embark on another full-catalog vinyl reissue campaign this year, this time re-releasing each of the band’s studio albums on 180-gram platters, beginning this week with Some Great Reward, Black Celebration, Music for the Masses and Songs of Faith and Devotion.

This week’s episode of ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave features a pretty routine lineup, with notable appearances by a pair of lesser-played Depeche Mode tracks (‘Monument,’ off ‘A Broken Frame,’ and ‘Violator’-era B-side ‘Sea of Sin’) — plus the return of the always-out-of-place Puscifer.
