Some 33 years later, The Replacements have finally made a video for Pleased To Meet Me lead-off single “Can’t Hardly Wait” — and it’s been assembled from footage originally shot for the infamously banned-from-MTV clip for “The Ledge” then used for follow-up video “Alex Chilton.” Watch it right here.
Depeche Mode continues its series of singles vinyl box-set releases with a collection of Songs of Faith and Devotion 12-inches next month, an 8LP set that will include two variations of each of the album’s four singles, with remixes and live versions for B-sides. As fans of The Cure continue to wait for the band’s long-promised new studio album, frontman Robert Smith today delivers new music: a collaboration with Gorillaz for the Damon Albarn-led group’s ongoing “Song Machine” series — which you can hear via its animated music video.
New Order today debuted their first new song in five years, the single “Be a Rebel” — you can stream it below — that had been intended to promote the group’s much-anticipated U.S. co-headlining tour with Pet Shop Boys, a trek that’s now been pushed to 2021. Hear the full new song right here.
The Throwing Muses’ just-released 10th album Sun Racket is an audio-visual affair, as the record is accompanied by a full visual album by experimental filmmaker C.K. Sumner, who, according to Fire Records, mixed photography and 4K digital to create visual pieces for each of record’s 10 songs. You can watch it here.
The rumored appearance by The Cure’s Robert Smith on the next installment of Gorillaz’s “Song Machine” series was confirmed by the group on Twitter today, though it’s not yet clear when the song — the sixth episode in the series — will arrive. More information on the project right here.
