The Pixies’ hefty box set ‘Minotaur’ scored a Grammy nomination tonight for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package.

Billed as its ‘only European show of 2011,’ organizers of the U.K.’s Bestival this morning announced The Cure will headline one of the festival’s four nights next September alongside Crystal Castles, the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, DJ Shadow and Primal Scream performing its 1991 album ‘Screamadelica.’

Sonic Youth will reissue two more early albums — 1985’s ‘Bad Moon Rising’ and 1987’s ‘Sister’ — on 180-gram audiophile vinyl in the coming weeks as they prep a French film soundtrack to be released as SYR9 in the Sonic Youth Recordings series and mix a new live album recorded in 1985.

Einstürzende Neubauten on Monday canceled its 30th anniversary tour of North America, blaming the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for taking so long to approve the band’s visas there was no time ‘to secure the appointments at the overseas embassies and consulates that represent the necessary final step in the process.’

Blaming a promoter who ‘defaulted on the contract,’ Duran Duran today canceled a planned five-date South African tour that was scheduled to begin next Monday — and serve both as a debut of parts of the band’s forthcoming album ‘All You Need Is Now’ and mark ‘the start of an enormous global campaign’ to promote the record.
