Dead Can Dance tonight announced the first phase of its much-anticipated 2012 reactivation, a six-week, 22-date tour of Europe that will take the group — namely co-founders and mainstays Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard — from Istanbul to Ireland in September and October.
This week’s episode of Slicing Up Eyeballs on Strangeways Radio featured music by Orange Juice, The Gun Club, Simple Minds, INXS, Joe JAckson, Miracle Legion, My Bloody Valentine, The Primitives, The Cure, They Might Be Giants and The Dream Syndicate, plus Public Image Ltd. covering the Sex Pistols.
Peter Hook will perform Joy Division’s third and final album, 1981’s ‘Still,’ at two concerts in Manchester this May, playing both the first disc’s collection of rarities and outtakes, and then recreating the band’s final concert as included on the second disc. The concerts are set for May 18, the anniversary of Ian Curtis’ death, and May 19.
Not sure how this one escaped our notice, but it’s better late than never: On Sept. 21, 2010, ChameleonsVox — the band featuring frontman Mark Burgess and drummer John Lever of post-punk favorites The Chameleons — stopped by the studios of Seattle’s KEXP radio to perform a four-song, on-air set.
It’s good news/bad news for My Bloody Valentine fans: The endlessly delayed reissue of 1988’s ‘Isn’t Anything’ and 1991’s ‘Loveless’ — the latter featuring an unreleased alternate mix by Kevin Shields — no longer have release dates, but Sony Music is planning to release an MBV disc entitled ‘EPs 1988-1991’ this spring.
Morrissey opened up his 11-date South American tour with a headlining slot at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Viña del Mar, Chile, on Friday night, and since the whole festival was webcast, you can now watch Moz’s full 80-minute performance right here.
The reunited Stone Roses continue to roll out summer festival dates, confirming over the weekend that they’ll headline the U.K.’s V Festival in August. So far, the band is playing 11 festivals in Europe and the Far East, plus standalone gigs in Manchester and Dublin.
